I have set up my own budget, for the Curry County Shelter. This was a very small budget. I also owned a successful small business for 7yrs. and did all of the accounting. I know what it is like to run a shoestring budget.
Working with the public has helped me to understand what their concerns are. I have the pleasure of knowing what the majority wants and doesn't want. I want more community in-put, when making decisions.
First and foremost, we need to figure out a better budget. I want to find more funding; other then O&C and raising our taxes. In doing this, we can restore our Health Department, so it is available for everyone in our county. We also need to help keep our community safe, by hiring more officers. The homeowner's shouldn't have to bear the brunt, of our county's financial problems.
I am open to any and all suggestions, from our community. I want to serve our community to the best of my ability. As we all know, County issue's affect everyone. The key is, communication with the public. My door will always be open. I will always be up front and honest but remember sometimes my honest answer might not be what you wanted.
I will always be involved with the Curry County Animal Shelter. I just feel, our county/community needs to be everyone's #1 priority at this time. If I am elected as your Commissioner; I truly believe together, we can build our children's and grandchildren's future.
