Occupational Background: Columbia County District Attorney's Office, Deputy District Attorney 1989-1996; Peterson & Herr, Associate Attorney 1996-2002; David B Herr P.C., Sole Practitioner 2002-Present.
Educational Background: Oregon State University, Bachelor of Science-American Studies; Northwestern School of Law Lewis & Clark College, Juris Doctor.
Prior Governmental Experience: Deputy District Attorney, Columbia County.
In Columbia County we have only three judges. Therefore all three must be fair, organized, experienced, and professional. I will bring to the Columbia County bench a serious work ethic, decisiveness, patience and respect for those I serve.
Sometimes we underestimate how much the public benefits when the courts operate in a timely manner. Slow decisions and docketing can cause great stress to those served by the court system. Justice delayed is justice denied, so I will strive to bring cases to a timely but well considered conclusion. I will be open minded, with an appreciation for people's problems, but with an ability to make tough decisions. I will roll-up my sleeves and deal with the paper work that is an inevitable part of the legal process.
For 19 years I have successfully advocated for clients of different backgrounds, in a variety of areas of the law. Therefore, I have not concentrated on advocating for a certain segment of the community. I will use this experience in both civil and criminal law to make knowledgeable and impartial decisions.
I have lived in Columbia County since graduating from law school. My wife Jill and I are lucky to have raised our children Larissa and Nathan in this wonderful community which I hope to serve.
