As a nurse, Laurie Monnes Anderson has always cared about East County. Laurie has taken this same approach in the Legislature, keeping our state healthy and fighting for the things that are most important to us.

Cut Government Waste

Laurie voted for annual audits of state funds and a spending cap because she believes that government should live within its means and not borrow against the future.

Laurie also voted to freeze her own pay and voted against weakening the Legislature's ethics laws.

Affordable Health Care

Laurie fought to protect the health care and other benefits of the National Guard serving overseas so they can re-establish their lives when they come home.

Laurie also helped pass the Patients Bill of Rights and led the way on lowering the cost of live-saving prescription drugs.

Fund Classrooms, Not Bureaucracies

From her experience on the Gresham-Barlow School Board, Laurie knows the importance of spending money in the classroom, not administration.

Good Paying Jobs

Laurie worked hard to create jobs by providing incentives to recruit high-tech businesses. She also helped pass $2.5 billion in new road improvements that will aid East County businesses and protect 88,000 good-paying jobs.
