Occupation: Office Specialist 2, Western Oregon University, June 1998-present.

Occupational Background: Office Specialist 2, Social Science Division, Western Oregon University, June 1998-Present; Office Specialist 1, Psychology Department, WOU, October 1995-June 1998; Office Assistant 2, Mathematics Department, WOU, December 1988-October 1995.

Educational Background: Senior Status, Western Oregon University; Major: International Studies; Minor: Gender Studies.

Prior Governmental Experience: Court Clerk and Planning Commission Secretary, City of Monmouth, January 1986-October 1988; Office Assistant, Department of State, Washington, D.C., October 1964-May 1968.

Background Information: I have been married for 35 years and have two grown daughters and a grandson. Living in Monmouth for 34 years, I have been active in Girl Scouts, Monmouth Civic Club, Parent/Teacher Groups, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and Polk County Democrats. I have held leadership positions in SEIU Local 503, OPEU Local 082, Abby's House, and Phi Kappa Phi.

Housing: Ten years ago, fifty people lived under the bridge in Independence or in cars or trucks. Caring people formed Neighbors Helping Neighbors. I have been a part of this group since its beginning. We now provide 18 low-rent apartments to people in need in Polk County.

Jobs: Hard-working Oregonians are losing their jobs; their homes are being repossessed, and they are unable to support their families. We need to get Oregonians back to work.

Education: K-12 and higher education need increased funding. We must hire more teachers, decrease class size, and reinstate programs.

Women: Women's issues are important to all of us. I helped establish Abby's House, the Center for Women and Families, on the WOU campus, to assist women with their problems.

Health Care: The high cost of good health care, health insurance, and prescription drugs needs to be addressed. The Oregon Health Plan leaves many Oregonians uninsured. Everyone deserves basic health care coverage.
